We're so excited to feature, athlete & artist, Molly Scannell!
Trained as a competitive rower, Molly loves to workout off the water in her TIEMs. Which is why we knew she'd be the right fit to help with our website homepage redesign!
Read on to learn a little more about her world...

"Since I can remember, I have been a lover of all things art & athletics. With art, I love the process of making and seeing the final outcome- even if its terrible. It's a really important right brain activity that helps enhance my athletic goals/progress. I wont go deep into it, but the ability to visualize outputs and distance, perspective through art is critical in sports. Also the raw emotional side of making art and how it makes you feel is a powerful tool in maneuvering tough spots in your athletic endeavors. I've played many sports at competitive levels, but honestly, I don't think I'd be as successful at them without my artistic background. It's all about the balance."

Is there a connection for you between being an artist and an athlete?

I think the biggest gift of being both an artist and a competitive athlete pretty much my whole life is Freedom. The ability to feel free in an escape but also find ultimate balance within my mind & body.

What was the inspiration for the artwork you did for us?

I love referring back to an old George Pocock quote on this, " It's a symphony of motion..." -George Pocock. Using amazing strong women in action and the organic nature of the curves and flow they create throughout pattern re-enforces the beauty of this symphony in motion we all create just by moving.

What's your favorite memory from being a competitive rower?

I have so many amazing memories! 29 years worth! One of the funniest was doing pieces on the Charles river, getting ready for the head of the Charles and our 6 seat threw out her back. We were alone out there, on a quiet morning, swinging our bodies in unison (except 6 seat) back to the boathouse. We were rounding the bend after the Elliot bridge and our coach came to find us. We couldn't see him, but you could hear a faint buzzing sound of an engine getting closer and closer. I was sitting stroke seat and through the quiet haze of the morning, I yelled....'I WANT MY 2 DOLLARS!!!' We all broke out in hysterical laughter. I totally just aged myself, but if you haven't seen 'better off dead 'with John Cusack....thats where its from. Our poor 6 seat was in so much pain!

Speaking of your athletic background, how do you enjoy staying healthy these days? Any favorite workouts/routines/etc?

Working out is literally the only thing that is keeping me sane through covid. I hopped on the Peloton bandwagon and have been loving it ever since. I engage in almost everything: Cycling, Running, Strength, Yoga, Challenges, Programs. My Tiem Latus trainers are with me the whole way!

We were so excited for you to try our Latus trainers. What's your favorite workout you do in them?

ALL my mat workouts including weights. I do lots of circuits with power cleans and power presses (push press?). Foot grip when I'm on the mat is SUPER important. Not to mention, keeping my foot stable in the actual shoe. The Latus has been a game changer for me on all these fronts. And I have LOTS of 'sneakers'. None of them hold me up quite like the Latus when I'm stressing my body in these ways.

Anything else we didn't touch on that you'd like to share with our audience?!

I said this in a recent interview, and I just really believe in it 150%, “If you’re not failing, you’re never winning.”- Molly Scannell.
