  • International Women's Day Spotlights

Published in Spotlights on March 17, 2023

On March 8th, 2023 several indoor cycling studios across the nation hosted fundraising rides to support various non-profits of their choice focused on women’s equity and empowerment.

Today, we're proud to feature two of these studio owners to hear more about their story as a female entrepreneur!

Based on your experience, what advice would you give young female entrepreneurs?

Owning a business can seem extremely appealing, but I don't know that people truly understand how much work it is - physically, emotionally and mentally. It can be such a beautiful mix of highs and lows. There is so much to learn along the way and I am a firm believer in learning from the mistakes. The hard part with that last statement is that you cannot learn from mistakes that you don't make. With that being said, you have to learn not to dwell on all the mistakes and you have to choose to use them as learning opportunities and not look to the past and continue to look forward.

What do you feel the biggest challenge is for female entrepreneurs and how have you overcome this?

I have found one of the biggest challenges is leading and managing in a supportive fashion while maintaining healthy boundaries in a female dominant workplace. Naturally, we want to be friends with the people we are surrounded by on a regular basis. The difficulty lies when there is conflict. Since conflict is a natural consequence of having a team, healthy boundaries are a must.

Even today, I am continuing to search for that healthy balance between leader/friend. I have found having multiple female entrepreneurs that I can lean on for guidance has been key as my company has continued to grow. I would advise any entrepreneur to find those people. The ones that can offer genuine feedback, challenge you and hold you accountable.

Based on your experience, what advice would you give young female entrepreneurs?

I'd tell to all young female entrepreneurs that there is no limit to achieving their goals just for being women. Any dream that they have may be accomplished so go for it until it comes true.

What do you feel the biggest challenge is for female entrepreneurs and how have you overcome this?

Even though it has not happened to me yet, I do think it is quite hard to be highly active in business and also deal with pregnancy challenges. I'd say this is very demanding for all entrepreneurs women.

Is there anything else you'd like the audience to know?

I'd like to thank for this moment in time that allows female entrepreneurs to accomplish their goals. However, we have to keep raising our voices against places that still discriminate women.
