  • Can I use my Slipstreams with a Peloton?

Published in Tips on July 24, 2020

So your Peloton bike was delivered and you're ready to choose your cycling shoes. Think Slipstreams aren't an option?

Keep reading for a quick guide on how to make these two a match made in indoor cycling heaven.

With the ability to stream studio-style classes from the comfort and safety of our homes, the Peloton Exercise bike has quickly become a favorite among avid indoor cyclists. Now the question is—will my TIEM Slipstreams work with the Peloton?! In short, yes! It will just take an extra step to change out the pedals.

The Peloton is delivered with pedals that are LOOK DELTA (3-holes) cleat compatible. Our Slipstreams only work with pedals that connect to an SPD cleat (2-holes). You can read more about cleat compatibility here.

Luckily, switching out the pedals on your Peloton is an option and it's not as intimidating as it may sound. We recommend the SHIMANO M520 SPD Pedal. Or, if you're interested in finding a pedal that can accomodate both SPD and DELTA, a dual-sided pedal like this is another great option! To walk you through the installation process, we've borrowed the same video shared on the Peloton Guide site—check it out below!

Here are some photos from our community of riders who use TIEMs on their Pelotons!

•Sunday Funday• • • Happy Sunday PeloFam❣️ I hope all of you had a productive week and are ready to have a kick ass Monday tomorrow💪🏼 Check out the Peloton schedule & find some classes you want to ride to get excited for the week. Also, I highly recommend taking the Britney Spears ride with Cody if you haven’t already😍🙌🏼❤️• • • Now... I’m sure you’re wondering, why is Megan standing by her Peloton, pointing at random objects?😅 I am SO excited to share these products from pelospin3d 🎉🎉🎉 You guys know I love riding for long durations (doing a 100 mile PeloFondo this coming Saturday!😈) AND I‘m all about convenience when it comes to riding in general. pelospin3d hooked me up with 3 of their products and I really can’t stress how much I love them🙌🏼 (Especially the shoe mount😍)• • • In the first picture, you can see the front shoe mount could not be in a more convenient/out of the way spot, ideal for storage & display🤗 Second picture is the front phone tray, which I love because it stays out of the way while I’m riding but also easy to check during a pyramid challenge😉 & finally, the third picture is the seat tray which is actually super useful! I’ve put anything from my headphones on it to extra hair clips/ties & it’s come in handy on so many occasions👌🏻• • • I can’t say enough good about pelospin3d ‘s products & how easy they were to attached to the bike without hurting the Peloton. I love sharing these inventive/creative products with you guys & supporting fellow PeloFam so I strongly encourage you guys check out pelospin3d 👏🏼 you won’t be disappointed🔥 Keep me posted on all of your rides, milestones, & workouts this week Fam❣️• • • #onepeloton #togetherwegofar #ridepeloton #pelotoncycle #peloton

3 years & a lot of #s lost = new kicks for my onepeloton bike courtesy of tiemathletic. I fell in love with these shoes at cyclebarmilford, specifically the #vividpink because it supports bcrfcure which is near & dear to my heart (literally because, boobs & figuratively because, near & dear people.) I am really looking forward to clipping in & hitting the pedals. Don’t get me wrong the peloton shoes were great while they lasted BUT they weren’t pink. Working on Weaknesses• • We are about halfway through July PeloFam! Hopefully everyone is putting in work & making progress on their personal goals (and/or kicking off Pelothon on a solid note!)🔥 I’m happy to report I’ve been keeping up on my July Running goal & starting to feel like I’m building up endurance!💪🏼 I have to say it feels pretty good to switch up my workout & run outside, sweat my butt off, and get active off the bike☀️• • One of the things I love most about the Peloton is the convenience of having it right at your home. It’s hard to make excuses when you don’t even have to leave your house to get a great workout in!🙌🏼 That being said, the move to my new apartment & traveling a bit more has left me in situations where I don’t have my bike everyday. Throwing on my shoes & clipping in for a ride is effortless. So when the bike isn’t an option, I have to work harder to talk myself into exercising, which is one of my weaknesses😬 I’ve created a similar game plan to staying active when it’s just me, myself, & I👍🏼 Since my July goal was to focus on running, the night before I like to: 📌map out my route, 📌decide how many miles I want to run &📌what average mile pace to aim for! Additionally (just like with the Peloton😇), I like to record all the stats for my runs. I enjoy & get motivated by competing against previous mile times/stats, so I would definitely recommend trying that if you haven’t!🏃‍♀️• • Regardless of what kind of workout you’re doing, everyone runs into the issue of getting motivated to exercise. As I work on running this month, I simultaneously working on my weakness of staying motivated when I don’t have my Peloton💪🏼 If you feel yourself slipping into a slump, switch it up! Go for a walk, run, try yoga or a cardio class on the app! You never know what might inspire you to keep moving! Let’s keep it sweaty & find that motivation to move PeloFam❤️🙌🏼🔥• • Also, I have to give a huge thank you to peloton_therealmoms for this cute & comfortable outfit from Zyia❤️🥰 Rarely do I wear anything but Lululemon, but I have to give the leggings & sports bra a 10/10 for quality exercise clothes!!• • #onepeloton #togetherwegofar

1900 times I’ve clipped in for them. 1900 times I’ve clipped in because I love myself enough to move my body in some way every day. 1900 times I’ve clipped in because self care is not selfish. And I’m going to clip in 1900 more times, and than 1900 times more after that...until my pedals fall off. And then I’ll buy a new onepeloton bike #MILFMoney #OnePeloton #RidePeloton #PelotonCycle

I miss teaching more than ever right now. There is NOTHING like instructing a group of people through a workout. The energy is motivating and inspiring. Instructors are responsible for basically everything that happens during the workout BUT the energy and work is all YOU; the people who show up. Who don’t use excuses and clip in. Who push hard and leave their sweat (and tears) on the floor. I miss that. I miss the half baited breaths of “thank yous”. I miss curating a playlist that I know they’ll love. I just miss riding with them... YOU. People. Human contact. Being in a room with others who are focused on feeling their best and attaining their best. I miss it all.

⭐️Millenium Milestone⭐️ • ⭐️1️⃣,0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ rides⭐️ • I wish I had the perfect words to describe how I’m feeling about accomplishing my 1,000th ride today. I’m overwhelmed with pride & happiness, but above all else, gratitude. When I created this account in January, I never could have imagined it would turn into what it is now, 6 months later. I have met (what I believe) to be some of the most incredible, inspiring, genuine, & hard working people within the Peloton Community, which has in turn motivated me to be the best version of myself❤️• • • Looking back at my rides, I’m still in disbelief that I’ve had my bike since October and taken 1,000 rides. When I stop & think about how I stayed consistent and motivated, there is always a common denominator. My PeloFam❤️. & before you even think about it, I’m not saying that to be cheesy or cliché! So many of you have directly or indirectly inspired me to ride everyday. Whether it’s been someone asking me to take a class with them, another rider telling me about a challenge I should try, or seeing one of you kick ass with a new PR, I owe my success & dedication to this incredible PeloFam🔥• • • I can’t wait to keep riding with all of you, celebrating your milestones, & continuing to build relationships with so many of you🤗 Thank each & every one of you who personally reached out and expressed your excitement for me on my millennium ride today. You guys really don’t know how much it means to me🥰 I love you all and wouldn’t have reached this huge milestone without you! Let’s keep spreading the inspiration & motivation PeloFam💪🏼 I’ll be right here pushing you guys & cheering you on🙌🏼• • • P.S. I’ll be in Nashville all weekend so I’ll be away from the bike but I’ll be posting my runs with you guys!🤗• • • #onepeloton #togetherwegofar #ridepeloton #pelotoncycle #peloton

Peloton friends, if you haven’t taken one of the All for One rides, do so now. Holy all the emotions and so much strength in one ride. That was epic! I honestly wasn’t sure what I had left in me for the AFOM, but I knew I wasn’t leaving anything on the table. I started my day at the gym with 10min Adrian legs/glutes. I was going to grab another but saw the Whitney arms with Ally and couldn’t say no. Wow. After that burn, I decided I might as well get my 3rd Tunde arms in for the challenge. Dang! Did I mention that I used 5’s for those two?! If anything thinks you can’t build strength with 3’s, just give them a smile, because we know better. When we got home after errands, I fed the boys and put W down. I threw my shoes on and got ready. Had some time, so did a quick 5min because why not. Jumped over to Ally’s live warm up & from then on it was show time. It was amazing riding with so many familiar faces and even a new (I see you _irenescholz_ ). It was cool to catch high fives with friends & even snagged some from yoiamsamyo himself (best song of the ride 🎶). I was working hard for a new PR and was going for just a few. Never did I think it would be by +104. Thank you onepeloton for this amazing bike that goes nowhere, instructors who push for greatness, & for a community of positivity! #togetherwegofar

I finished my 50th ride on Peloton today! I didn't get a shout-out, but my wife and pup cheered me on the whole way! I am so grateful that I decided to invest in myself back in December 2019! I also tied my PR, but didn't get a badge for it 🤷🏼‍♀️ And yes, that is my fitbit on my shoes because I deserve those steps! 💪🏻🤣 #mrsgettinfit #onepeloton #tiemathletic #fuckingbelieveinyourself

PELOTON REVIEW⁣ ⁣ We’ve had our onepeloton bike since October 2019, so its about time for a full review! It’s an especially good time since we’re all thinking about how to stay active at home! ⁣ ⁣ INSTRUCTORS:⁣ Major shoutout to the instructors at Peloton. The have some of the best trainers who are incredibly motivating - even through a screen! Some of my favorite are: alextoussaint25 allymisslove robinnyc fitxkendall oamato emmalovewell jsimsfit becsgentry rksolidnyc⁣ ⁣ CLASSES/OPTIONS:⁣ There are literally thousands of class options to choose from, but they are of various duration and type. There are short classes (10-20 min) which are great for a quick sweat, or for beginners just starting their fitness journey. You can filter classes by instructor, length of class, style of class, etc. You can save the classes to take at a later time, and see which classes you or a friend has taken. They also have challenges to earn badges (which Aaron is v into) to keep you motivated and consistent. ⁣ ⁣ COMMUNITY:⁣ I have to say the onepeloton community is so motivating! You can meet new friends and follow others and do the same classes as them. You can even high five people during class! If you are the competitive type - you can dominate the leaderboard (but it can always go away if you aren’t into it) ⁣ ⁣ TIME MANAGEMENT:⁣ If you are a busy professional, sometimes its hard to find the time required to get out the door to the gym, or a class. You have to commute there, pack a gym bag, wait for a shower, etc. Having a bike or tread in your home really helps create more time work out. You can just hop on the bike! ⁣ ⁣ COST:⁣ I realize the bike or treadmills are not cheap. Peloton has a zero interest financing option which costs less than a NYC gym membership per month. I also have to share that Aaron has worked out more than he ever went to equinox in a given month.⁣ ⁣ Peloton is offering a free 90 day trial right now. Even if you don’t have a bike or treadmill at home, there are many class options you can do in social isolation like strength classes (use food cans if you don’t have weights!), yoga, meditation. ⁣ ⁣ Do you have a peloton? Wanna hear your thoughts!

🚴 𝐈’𝐦 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 , 𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝟑𝟎𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞!🚴 Yesterday I took the 45 minute Intervals & Arms ride and towards the end of class, codyrigsby gave me a small shoutout. My first ever in a live class! I totally wasn’t expecting it, coolest thing ever! People often ask me what I love the most about my Peloton. I tell them that I can work out at any time of the day without any excuses (minus the exception of last week’s crazy Texas winter storm! ❄️). I also love the Peloton badges and milestones! They’ve gotten me to try new classes and instructors. Motivation looks different for everyone but these “consistency trophies” is what keeps me going! How do you keep your workouts interesting?
